RotaryNews has started the #SaveTheRotary campaign. Based off the old Save The Seven campaign, started in 1999, which was partly responsible for bringing the RX-8 to the US, the #SaveTheRotary campaign aims at reminding Mazda about their grassroots support. If you have a face book account, please use the #SaveTheRotary hash tag, and link to the #Save The Rotary site at the shortened URL: http://re-ne.ws/?str

Team Sahlen RX-8 GTs makes charge for lead in the Global Barter 250 at New Jersey
Submitted by Berny Herrera on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 - 5:49pm

05/16/2012 New Jersey - Team Sahlen came into the New Jersey weekend with high hopes of repeating the 2011 podium sweep by Mazda. These hopes were heightened when Dane Cameron placed the #42 at the top of the time charts on both Test Day and Practice Day. Wayne further solidified these hopes with a very fine 5th place qualifying effort.

“We came into the weekend with a very nice set up from last year. But we were not satisfied with just running like we did in 2011, so we came into the weekend with several different set up directions, in hopes of finding that last little bit of extra speed. It seems to have worked as we kept pace with many of the new cars in GT this year at the New Jersey event.” – shared Wayne Nonnamaker

05/16/2012 New Jersey - This weekend was the 4th race in the 2012 GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Cars Series: Global Barter 250. The SpeedSource team was ready to bounce back from Homestead’s brief finish as the New Jersey weather greeted them with perfect driving conditions.

As the team arrived in the morning, they quickly began prepping the car for testing Thursday and practice Friday. SpeedSource had taken 1st place last year at New Jersey and the team was hoping to keep that a tradition. The #70 Castrol Edge Modspace Mazda RX-8 showed no signs of deviating from this, as they placed P1 on Friday’s practice session. Although the 3rd test session was delayed due to an accident on the track, the #70 car was running great and the team was eager to qualify the next day.

Excellent Pit Stops secures Team Sahlen RX-8 GT 2nd place at Rain Soaked Miami Grand Prix
Submitted by Berny Herrera on Friday, May 4, 2012 - 1:11pm

05/03/2012 Homestead, Florida - The Miami Grand Prix turned into a deluge of rainstorm that seemed to never stop. The rains started on Friday night, and didn’t cease until Sunday after the race.

Before the rains did come though, the skies were blue and the track was dry. Thursday was an official Track Day, and Team Sahlen took advantage of this time to get in some testing. For the #42, the “Wayne and Dane Show” had a chance to try some new set up. For #43, a malfunctioning oil coupling saw the father and son duo of Joe & Will Nonnamaker loose precious track time. The good news is that the problem was noticed before a major mechanical failure, such as motor evolved.

April 10, 2012 (Signal Hill, Calif.) – Wanting to put on a strong show in front of his hometown crowd, and get his championship off to a strong start, Kyle Mohan was looking for a strong qualifying run when he rolled the Nexen/ Mazdatrix Mazda RX-8 to the starting line for his first of two qualifying runs. What he didn’t have in mind, however, was nosing his car into the turn 10 tire wall after making contact with the wall in the first clipping zone of the track.
