Napster Founder Auctioning Off RX-7
Submitted by SuperUser on Thursday, June 22, 2000 - 12:00am

You might have seen this aution over
at Ebay or read this C|Net article about it, Shawn Fanning is selling his 1995 RX-7. According to a recent Rolling Stone article, Fanning is a "gearhead obsessed with Mazda
RX-7s." The white car is no clunker, having been "hacked" to put out 300 to 320

According to Shawn: "Unfortunately, the car is no longer practical (only seats two) - anyone attempting to fit a third person on the storage containers behind
the seats knows what I mean =) "

Mazda plans revamp of vehicle line-up in 2002
Submitted by SuperUser on Monday, June 12, 2000 - 12:00am

Let the guessing begin on what new Model Mazda is planning on introducing in next year (that would be 2001). . . according to this Reuters News Article. My guts say it will be the RX-EVOLV, as it has never been sold here, while the RX-7 has. Mazda is counting on it to prove the Rotary Engine is a viable engine. If the EVOLV takes off, the RX-7 will soon follow.

HIROSHIMA, Japan, June 11 (Reuters) - Mazda Motor Corp is planning a major revamp of its vehicle line-up in 2002, including the successor to a key model, the Demio compact, said President Mark Fields.
It is planning to introduce a new vehicle for North America next year that has not been previously sold there and will have some minor model changes and limited edition vehicles.

Save The Seven!
Submitted by SuperUser on Friday, June 2, 2000 - 12:00am

In an effort to help automate letters to Mazda, the Save the Seven page has moved, to be hosted by

"Mazda needs to understand that there is a market for this unique car.
With cars like the Toyota Supra Turbo, Mitsubishi 3000GT, and the
Nissan 300ZX disappearing from the market place, the doors are
wide open for the reintroduction of a high-performance rotary car.
But what is the best method for accomplishing this task?"

Letters submitted to the database will be printed out every six months or so and mailed to Mazda Motors of America, Inc.

Mazda Unveils the 2001 RX-7
Submitted by SuperUser on Saturday, April 1, 2000 - 12:00am

WIDTH=0 HEIGHT=0>In a much anticipated announcement, Mazda today unveiled the all new RX-7.
Powered by a three rotor MSPRE, the car will be the most powerful, and lightest in its class. The 3 rotor MSPRE has been under development since the first MSPRE was shown in 1995, and can produce over 400 hp, and 450 ft lbs of torque. The body style is reminicent of all three generations, with popup HID headligts, a duble bubble roof line, and slanting a-pillars, the drag coefficient is better than a nsx. The new suspension shares many components from the RX_EVOLV concept car unveiled last October in Tokyo.

The car should hit showrooms next week.

IDRC Lone Star Nationals
Submitted by SuperUser on Wednesday, March 15, 2000 - 12:00am

RX-7.COM makes it two for two by taking the second win of the season in our second event of the year.
The perfect weather and fast Houston track meant many records fell, including one for the Fastest RX-7
with a stock Mazda drivetrain. Fast cars from all over the country came to Texas including Ed
Bergenholtz, Kenny Tran, Lisa Kubo, Stephan Papadakis, Craig Paisley, Kyle Puckett, Christian Rado,
and many many more. With Speedvision film crews on site and plenty of magazine coverage, this was
by far the highest profile race in Texas to date.

What About the Wankel?
Submitted by SuperUser on Monday, March 6, 2000 - 12:00am

Hey, whatever did happened to the
Wankel anyway? There was a
time when it seemed like the
Wankel was going to take over the
world, or at least provide serious
competition to the standard
four-stroke motor. After all, it does
offer some important advantages,
including a better
power-to-weight ratio - meaning
more oomph from a smaller engine
- along with fewer moving parts,
resulting in greater overall reliability. But somewhere
along the way, it kind of slipped out of view. So what

Rotaries Around the World Part 1 - Rotaries Down Under
Submitted by SuperUser on Wednesday, March 1, 2000 - 12:00am

The Lands Down Under, Australia and New Zealand,
are filled with wide open spaces, natural wonders, crystal clear waters,
and Rotorheads! To Americans, Australians and their cousins New Zealanders
appear a little eccentric. Imports like Yahoo Serious (Young Einstein),
Paul Hogan (Crocodile Dundee), Men At Work (Down Under) make us up north
wonder if that hole in the ozone has scrambled the brains down there. One
thing is sure, Australians and New Zealanders have a unique tastes.

Mazda Roadster Fest
Submitted by SuperUser on Tuesday, January 25, 2000 - 12:00am

Story by Mark Gillies

Depending on where you live, the 10th anniversary of the Mazda Miata-yes, it really has been around that long-is this year or was at the back end of 1999. Specifically, if you live in Japan, the festivities happened last year.
And by some dint of good fortune, we were there, at the Mazda Roadster Fest in Tsukuba, near Tokyo, on September 25. Mazda invited owners of Miatas, Wankel-engined Cosmo Sport coupes, and RX-7s to come and spend some time on this club racing track and watch a bunch of journalists do battle in a four-hour race in identical domestic-market 1.6-liter Miatas.

YASO (Yet Another Scoop! Offering)
Submitted by SuperUser on Thursday, January 20, 2000 - 12:00am

Busybee has another image that looks much like the yellow one (except its red) on what they think will come out of Mazda in 2002. I know they get thir information from a Japanese Car Magazine, I just need to find the name, and see if I can get it over here

Remember the Tokyo Motor Show RX-Evolv concept model? Forget it, as it proved to be a big tease. This is the model shown to focus groups which is the more-conventional 2-door shape destined for production and debut in 2002 Fall.
