Series 2 RX-8 Images Released
Submitted by Dan Mazzella on Thursday, January 10, 2008 - 7:30am

With NAIAS and the Tokyo Auto salon just days away, Mazda released some teaser images of the revised RX-8 (known as the major-minor change) without an accompanying press release. MotorAuthority has more low resolution photos. Enjoy, and look for our coverage of NAIAS starting this weekend!

The Official SevenStock 5 artwork done by Mazda already had some of the similar lines to this updated RX-8:

Price still stinks. needs a turbo
January 11, 2008 - 11:23pm
I don't know how many turbo upgrades I've seen about the place for the rx8. Mazda Australia did a pretty good one of them. Memory has it that mazda japan reckoned for some reason (?emmisions) they couldent put one on when it was first released. no idea why they cant this time. If we get a series 3 rx8 i hope the have a factory turbo with it.

The aussie price is a big killer. Have seen a reference that mazda Australia think they can shift 1000 units a year at up to $60k. If they gave it a price it should have (mid-high 30's) i'm positive they would shift at least twice that.

Series-II RX-8
January 12, 2008 - 4:02am
Mazda Australia have a reputation for being quite "anal" with pricing rotary powered machines. Mark-up the reguar line 10%-15% from the Japanese price, but when its RX-8 time. The 100% mark ups not only insult the Aussie buyers but reduce sales down to a trickle of what they could have been.

one wishes they could take a leaf from the Mazda-USA people & mark up from the Japanese price by the same amount the USA buyer receives.

Major Minor?
January 11, 2008 - 2:01pm
OK, I see the "Minor" part of the changes. Now let's hope the "Major" parts are just that!

Can't say I'm all that crazy about the cosmetic changes though.

I am no sure how I feel about
January 10, 2008 - 10:54am
I am no sure how I feel about this new set of changes. The body of the car is nice and all but the second set of doors makes the car feel so much less aggressive overall. Besides the modifications are pretty minor (closer to what happened in the introduction of the 81 Rx-7). I hope that the RX-8 will recieve a much needed power increase. On the other hand, a good diet would be equally beneficial for the car. weighting in over 3k is a bit much. you could drop 200 pounds and see alot of "get up and go" appear for the car... However the new design is pretty.
