Mazda Furai - First Shots!
Submitted by Dan Mazzella on Thursday, December 27, 2007 - 11:19pm

Here are the first pics for the 3 Rotor Furai Concept:

These real shots come from Automobile (and thanks to Edmunds for letting the cat out of the bag before press time). Due out at the Detroit Autoshow Jan 13-14, the car may go through one or two more changes from the photos you see here, paint scheme, etc.

And here is the team that made it possible:

I draw possible parallels between this & the Mercedes C-111 back in 1970. When Mercedes showed their injected 4-rotor supercar to the public at the Frankfurt motor Show etc. Millionaires handed over signed blank cheques to the reps telling them they wanted one & they didn't care about the cost. History tells us that the Mercedes board where far too conservative to approve its limited production.

One wonders of the possabilities of the same thing happening here as Mazda (hopefully) show this amazing weapon around the world at various car shows. Enough blank cheques from the right influential buyers could turn this "Demonstration concept" into a "Consider it done"

Mazda have been known to take a walk on the wild side from time to time.

Franz V., Robert D., Kelvin H., and everyone from the Mazda design team (and Swift Engineering). Awesome, incredible design. Please, oh PLEASE (don't make me beg) have the Fuari available for Sevenstock XI and do whatever it takes to let the City of Irvine let us fire that 3-rotor up (if only for a few minutes). Thanks again for everyone's tireless efforts!
