New Photos of RX-8 in field testing
Submitted by SuperUser on Wednesday, April 3, 2002 - 12:00am

The previous article from the Japanese Magazine X showed a pre-production prototype of the RX-8. Well, they now have new images of an RX-8 prototype that looks complete. The front and back are covered in a black and blue masking material, to hide the final design... but it looks like the design is complete. There is also a cord of some sort that comes out of the hood (See it in this picture), and enters the front door around the mirror. This is a computer monitoring system.

There are some other things to note: The pictures have a cold, snowy background... so this is probably a test of the cold weather capabilities of the RX-8. There is also black tape on top of the front door, it is unsure if this is trying to mask the line of the door, or is some sort of fix in the field for a leaky window... From this angle it is hard to make out the design of the tail lights, but they do appear to be very similar to the ones in the prototype RX-8 on the show circuit.

Here are the links to all 4 images:

note that Photo 4 is a digital manipulation of the white car to a black one.
