First Drive of the RX-8

The print magazines are starting their tests of the RX-8, leading the pack is Road and Track, and the editors are very happy with the RX-8. They quote the weight of the prototype at 2970, and the low-end torque as better than previous prototypes (the Renesis Miata test mule). The also say the "Wankel comes to life with a familiar, meldious zing."

If you subscribe to Road and Track, expect to get them in the mail within the next few days. If you do not subscribe, go down to your local magazine rack, and pick up a copy. It is well worth it, as they have an article on the Cosmo Sport Salon.

There will be more information on rotarynews, as it becomes available online. As of Tuesday, the 5th or March, the Road and Track Website had not been updated.

As normal with new cars, we should expect to see more test drives in magazines within the next few months. If R&D stays on track, the first RX-8s should be hitting the streets in the US next Spring.

The sub title on the cover reads: "The Rotary Returns!" and this is a slogan they Mazda will be using in their advertising campaign. With that said, we have a limited number of the Rotor Shaped RX-8 CD's that were sent out with Mazdaspeed Motorsports packets, and were at the Autoshows across the country. They are now available free with any order from the Store.rotarynews.com.
