Saukville, Wisc. – B-K Motorsports completed hundreds of miles of flawless testing at Road America late last week in preparation for next week's Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda CX-7. Both Jamie Bach and Guy Cosmo spent time behind the wheel of the Mazda R20B (3-rotor)-powered Courage LMP2 entry during the all-day test.
After the final session, the team declared "all systems go" for the final two races of the American Le Mans Series season
The two final events of the season represent special opportunities for the Mazda rotary power that is in the Courage package B-K has been campaigning since debuting at Road Atlanta in April 2005. The grueling Petit Le Mans event – where the rotary's reliability will be given its chance to shine – and the Monterey Sports Car Championships at Mazda's home track in Monterey, Calif., are key targets for the program.
The No. 8 Mazda rotary-powered Courage C65 will return to the American Le Mans Series at Road Atlanta, where the team debuted last year in LMP2. The team will compete with the same three-rotor (R20B Renesis-based 3 rotor) powerplant prepared by SpeedSource Engineering of Sunrise, Fla., mated with the Courage C65 chassis to close out this season. The team will continue to run under Road & Track Magazine colors, and the car will be clad with KUMHO tires.
The driver lineup for the final two events will continue to include 2005 American Le Mans Series Co-Rookies of the Year, Jamie Bach and Guy Cosmo, with the announcement of a third driver for the Petit Le Mans coming soon. The team's plans for 2007 are all finalized, and a more formal announcement will come as the season closes out at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
The 1,000-mile/10-hour Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda CX-7, Round 9 of the American Le Mans Series, is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. EDT on Saturday, September 30. The race will be broadcast live on SPEED Channel from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. EDT and 3 to 10 p.m. EDT with MotorsTV providing live coverage in Europe. American Le Mans Radio will have live coverage at americanlemans.com, which also will feature IMSA Live Timing & Scoring |
