There has been a rumor going around that a 4 rotor would enter Lemans this year. According to This site Yojiro Terada and Jim Downing will be running a 4 Rotor Powered Welter Racing LM675 in the 2002 Le Mans!

A quote from AUTOSPORT Magazine confirms this:

The whine of the Mazda rotary engine will return to Le Mans this year.

Long time Mazda factory driver Yojiro Terada is fitting a four rotor engine
prepared in the US by Jim Downing into one of the Welter Racing LM675
chassis that he has raced for the last two seasons.
Downing will join the Japanese behind the wheel, while WR will run the car
alongside one of their Peugeot powered chassis
The French amateur team is also taking both cars to the Sebring 12Hours in
March.

So, lookout world, the rotary is back!
