Webcast live from the North American International Auto Show in Detroit,
Tuesday January 8, 2002 at 11:30 a.m. EST.
The 2003 Mazda RX-8 is a sports car enthusiast's dream come true... the
next-generation Mazda Renesis 250-horsepower rotary engine, a 50:50 weight
distribution, a low yaw moment of inertia, free-style doors and room for
four adults.
The all-new 2002 Mazda 6 takes midsize vehicle performance to a higher
level... the new Mazda I4 2.3L DOHC 16-valve engine, contemporary sport
styling and design, a newly developed platform and suspension, world-class
occupant protection and a spacious, functional interior.
Watch the webcast live at the link above, after, check back here for pictures, and later today or tomorrow, look for your questions asked to the Mazda Execs!
Update: The press conference is over, and the interviews have been completed. Even though the conference only talked about the RX-8 for 2 minutes, the attention after was all on the RX-8. About 80 percent of the press were gathered arond the RX-8, not the main focus of the conference, the Mazda6.
I had two long interviews with Tom Matano and Mark Fields, 1/2 hour each. I will transcribe the interviews, and should have them ready later tonight or tomorrow morning.
I can tell you one thing now, Mazda is very aware of the online community now, and have truely made the RX-8 the best it can be for what it is: the Sports Saloon (new classification). |
