MARCUS HASELGROVE NAMED TECHNICAL DIRECTOR/TEAM MANAGER OF B-K MOTORSPORTS/MAZDA P2 EFFORT
Former CHAMPION AUDI Development Engineer brings wealth of winning experiences to the program.
(Saukville, Wisconsin) Tuesday, January 17, 2006 -- The 2005 American Le Mans Series season marked a number of "firsts" and "returns"....one of the most notable...the return of Mazda (and specifically the legendary rotary powerplant) to top level sports car racing. The first season results for the Mazda P2 program, facilitated by Wisconsin's B-K Motorsports....1 victory (Mid-Ohio), 8 podiums finishes in 9 races, and co-drivers Jamie Bach & Guy Cosmo were named Rookies of the Year for the series.
For 2006, B-K Motorsports has taken a step to continue their successful trend and that comes in the form of new personnel. B-K has named Marcus Haselgrove, former Development Engineer for CHAMPION AUDI, as their new Technical Director/Team Manager. Haselgrove brings a wealth of experience and "know-how" to his new position and has had an immediate impact as the team prepares for next week's American Le Mans Series test days at Sebring International Raceway.

While he has been a part of Audi's strangle-hold on prototype sports car racing over the last few years, Haselgrove is no stranger to Mazda powered racing cars. In 2000-2001, while holding a position at MoTeC Engine Management Systems, he had the opportunity to work closely on the Star Mazda Championship cars, worked closely with Tri-Point Motorsports, which campaigns a fleet of Mazda6s in Sports Car Club of America's SPEED World Challenge series, and has worked with SpeedSource Engineering which campaigns Mazda RX-8s in Grand-Am Cup and ROLEX GT.
With two Penske Porsches campaigning in the P2 class in 2006 and the return of 2005 Champion...Intersport Racing, B-K Motorsports knows the bar has been raised and the competition will be outstanding. Haselgrove and his team plan to be in the thick of the P2 championship battle, however, and as things go in endurance racing....it is about finishing races and being consistent...with Mazda Renesis rotary power in the engine bay, Haselgrove and the B-K team are confident they can battle up front.
