Former 'Rotary Rockets' Editor, and current Redondo Police Officer Royce Branch is generating some news in the top-speed racing world. There is an article in today's Daily Breeze, going into Mr. Branch's efforts to reach his 200 MPH goal. The car is a real eye catcher, painted as a Redondo Beach Police Cruiser, light bars and all, although the light bar is taken off on the high speed runs.
Royce bought the '88 RX-7 last year for $400, minus the engine, and has put almost $20,000 into the engine, suspension, and other systems. The car made a public appearance at May's Mazfest, and made its first run at El Mirage Dry Lake near Victorville, Ca June 12th. He will be heading up to Lake Bonneville in August. |
