SPIED! Mazdaspeed RX-8
Submitted by Dan Mazzella on Tuesday, May 24, 2005 - 2:28pm

An anonymous reader sent in the following pics of that White concept Mazdaspeed RX-8 that was featured in last fall's SPEED Magazine by Road and Track. This car fell off the face of the earth for a while, and we could not get any information from our usual sources on the fate of it. Now, here it is, being shown in a public location, a place that some hard core rotorheads should recognize. Enough talk, here are the spy photos of a concept for the Mazdaspeed RX-8:

For more information see Our article from last fall on the car.

At SevenStock... Maybe???

Does anyone know if they're going to introduce next-gen 8? Or even better, 7?

It's been really quiet when it comes to RE, and I'm dying to find what is to come.

I, too, think 20B is the way to go. SC/TC is great to maintain the weight, but we could always add them on the 20B to eat alive Cayman(for 7)/M3(for 8).

Thanks for the heads-up, Dan!

Will be there! Just gave-up FC after a decade, and can't wait to see an 8 with a bit more spice! or, 7 with justifiable rear seats... :)

Love the hood and the front b

Love the hood and the front bumper...

Foglights and rear bumper, not so good.

But engine...thats what will drive it. I'm going to either TC or SC my RX8 once the warranty is up. If Mazda wants more of my money, I would probably buy another RX8 and sell the old one if they suitably bumped up the power...hopefully over 50 more hp than what it has now.

Bring back the 20b

If not in the new RX8 they should re-introduce the 20b into the slated RX7. That will show the industry what the rotary is really capable of. I think the 13b has been milked enough, the 20b will put fresh life and power into the rotary, and make Mazda a true super car.

I read an article that Mazda Australia put a turbo charger on the car that brought the hp to 362 and the torque to 256. That's definately better.

I like the mirrors and the rear rotor brake light. That hood makes it look mean. Gotta love that white too. -Jeromy

So Dan, you got any closeups of the cool sketches on the wall (behind the RX-8)? Any future clues up there?
