JGTC Round 2, Fuji Speedway - Wrap-Up
Submitted by Dan Mazzella on Friday, May 20, 2005 - 9:35am

Round 2 of the Autobacs Super GT was held at the FUJI Speedway May 4th. In the finals, 500km race started in front of a great number of spectators, 57,000 plus in number.

Yamaji, No.7 car driver, got 8th with 4 laps, but retreated 9th with 5 laps, 11th with 6th laps.

With 20th laps, No.7 car did pit in and ended up the race. Yamaji said "I repeated laps smoothly. But I couldn't get away from the congestion safely. Then, GT 500 class cars were approaching from behind. I tired to avoid the cars. But No.39 Supra hit my car. The rear tire and wheel was seriously damaged. I was very disappointed. Because Amasan , team owner, told me to avoid just retirement.

"In the next round Sepang, Malaysia, I think it'll be a tough race because our car isn't fast on the straight. But we won the Sepang race 3 straight year, so I will do my best."

3rd stage, Sepang Circuit in Malaysia. June 24 - 26th.
