Shinka has it all!
Submitted by SHINKA23 on Thursday, April 14, 2005 - 5:06pm

There seems to be an awful lot of hate here for the Shinka Edition RX-8. Very surprising. Well, I am the proud owner of a new Shinka and I have to say that this is the best car I've ever owned, and also the best color combination (int/ext). Of course, it doesn't have an LS2 under the hood, but it has just enough power for driving on roads in the US. Having a few thousand miles to my credit on Europeam autobahns, I believe that this Shinka can hold its own anywhere. Note: I love the luxury upgrade that the Shinka received. Every other RX-8 owner I have crossed says they wish they had waited a few more months. Well, I hope the fire rumors are not true, but even fewer than 2150 wouldn't be so bad either. Great job Mazda!

Was just looking over some of the coments on the Shinka and am glad to hear that your just as happy as I am. I had been looking and debating on what to buy. Soon as I saw the Shinka on line and then in person, I was sold. Had to get the rotary accent pack., spoiler, and tinted windows. I get more looks and questions then I ever. Love the fact the there limited. New to the rotary world USA

I have to agree with Shinka23. Having always liked the new RX-8, I had to see a Shinka in person. I have always been attracted to the kind of car that combines luxury with performance. Once I saw the Shinka for myself, the rest was history. I had one two weeks later. Several people have stopped me to comment on the color, and some rotary heads I know are impressed with the interior upgrades. Hey Shinka23, look into the clear lenses to replace the orange ones in the front. I put them on a few days ago and they really look sharp. So for all you Shinka haters out there, all I can say is this...go check one out for yourself on a nice sunny day. The Black Cherry Mica exterior is beautiful in direct sunlight. The website does it no justice. Shinka23, lots of luck with your new toy!

2006 Mazda RX-8 Shinka

I have had my 2006 Mazda RX-8 Shinka for exactlly one week now, The first night I bought it I had to leave it with the dealership so they could detail, change plugs, paint protection and interior leather protection, etc... needless to say it was a long night. Any way the car looked awesome with the Copper Red color dancing in the sun. This car pulls so authoratively all the way through the power bands it puts a smile on my face, and cornering with it's special tuned suspension forget about it. For all those out there that say this car is underpowered and has no speed, I conclude the that it is all in your minds. What can I say the Mazda RX-8 Shinka Rocks! No wonder they only made 2150 of these gems.

Clear Corners for RX-8

Thanks alot 1stRotaRy! I've been on the web the past few days looking for some reasonably priced clear corners. Unfortunately, there are no shops locally that have them in stock. I found some on Ebay for about 57 Washingtons. What bulb do you have in yours? I've read in other forums that the clear lens with the standard bulb doesn't look right either. I can only assume that they are a fairly easy install. I'll probably order them tomorrow and get them on before the weekend. I'm really enjoying this machine!

Ebay was where I purchased mine. I know what you mean about the "egg yoke" look of the orange bulb behind the clear lens. Right now I have the standard bulb that came with the corners. Soon I'll be picking up a set of "stealth" bulbs for the clear corners as well as the turn signals in the front and rear. The bulbs have a chrome exterior, so they disappear behind the clear lens. You can replace the orange turn signals as well, the stealth bulbs blend with the chrome inside the housing. Ive seen them in amber and hyper white.
The clear corners were pretty easy to put in. Turn your wheel all the way to the inside to give yourself more room to work. Have fun!

Clear Corners

Got my clear markers today and installed them in about 15 minutes top. That was alot easier than anticipated. I got the stealth bulbs as well. I don't think I even have to say that my Shinka looks even better now! Not sure what else I want to do now; I really don't care to pay such a high price tag for the strakes...they are really over priced. Has anyone installed the PhatNoise System at all? That's something I'm really looking into. I'm getting tired of carrying my MP3 player around and the satellite guys just don't play what I wanna hear at all.

I know what you mean about the strakes. Im not in a rush to get them just yet. I actually like the Sirius satellite radio. I have it in my other car as well. BTW, have you heard anything about the Shinka being even more limited than originally reported? There were supposed to be 2150 made, then the fire broke out at the plant in Dec. Until today I couldnt find anything to confirm if that number had changed. Then I see a guy selling a Shinka on EBay and in his description he states that the original number of 2150 had been lowered to 926! I havent read that anywhere. If you come up with anything, drop a line.
