The Adventures of Abel at Tokyo Auto Salon
Submitted by Dan Mazzella on Thursday, January 27, 2005 - 2:43pm

Abel Ibarra and his NHRA Spec Pro RWD RX-8 made their debut at this years Tokyo Auto Salon. Abel flew over to Japan with his brother, while Mazda shipped his 3rotor RX-8. For those in the know, agree that this event is the largest and best JDM tuner show. As a three day event it attracts over 250,000 visitors. Factory Tuners such as Mazdaspeed, Nismo, STi, TRD, Rally Art along with Top JDM Tuners completely fill the halls of Tokyo's Makuhari Messe Convention Center.

Ibarra-san's RX-8 was a huge hit, with the MazdaSpeed area being one of the most dynamic displays at this years show. Abel's 1500 hp out-powered every other product in attendance. Besides showcasing pure performance, Abel's RX-8 detail and level of craftsmanship outshined the best of the best in the Auto Salon's JDM world of prestigious show cars.

Abel has also become a reckoned Icon and spokesperson in Tokyo. He drew many fans and enthusiast followers. It was amazing how globally recognized Abel and his RX-8 really is. Among the interviews Abel teamed up with the JDM famed RE Amemiya in a few talks shows held the the event site.

Overall the trip to the Tokyo Auto Salon helped boost Motorsports visibility in the USA. It also helped boost Mazda's (and MazdaSpeed) global brand image as a successful and upcoming company for other OEMs to contend with.

Abel will answer the questions very soon.. He wanted to answer them before he went to Japan, but we wanted to get a few more in before we sent them over to him.
