Moses Smith Finishes 6th In The 2004 Star Mazda North American Championship.
Submitted by ae on Thursday, November 11, 2004 - 1:12pm

In what can be described as a long and trying year for Moses, the 2004 Championship was never the less fun and exciting. The season started out very promising as Moses entered the the first race at Sebring with a new team, the American Speed Factory. Although Moses and the team had a very limited time working together, they were able to finish in second place. The following event at Mid Ohio would place Moses just off the podium in fourth place. Still a great finish in this competitive series.

As the season unfolded a few streaks of bad luck would plague Moses' early success. During the first practice session at Lime Rock, another car lost control during a yellow flag situation, and crashed into the back of Moses' car. The contact caused severe damage. The team worked hard over the next two days to get the car back on track for the race. Unfortunately, during the race, Moses and another competitor made contact, ending Moses' race early.

Although the season was very up and down from this point forward, Moses was able to keep the 3 Dimensional, Hasa Pool Products car in the top ten for seven of the ten races. "This year was tough. I thank the team and everybody involved for working so hard and never giving up." Moses commented on the season.

As Moses enters the off season, commonly known as the silly season, no plans have been set in stone. "I would like to run the Star Mazda series again, so I can put what we have learned this year to good use, but I am working on a couple of other ideas that would run in conjunction with that."

Moses also wanted to personally thank Doug Peterson, 3 Dimensional Services, Hasa Pool Products, and the American Speed Factory. "Without these guys believing in me, and continuing to support my effort, there is no way I would be out here living my dream."
