Needle way past red line. Engine not hot, lots of coolant. Water pump fine. Replaced the thermostat sensor and still have problem

I had the same problem, I replaced the fan clutch assembly with a fan clutch from a turbo unit.I think it solved the problem

Hello my friend....
i had the same problem exactly.I bought a second hand rx8 with 4500 km...everything was ok except this gauge.I took it for inspection....the answer??The previous owner took it to a car electrician and tried to "hide" some Km!!!So,the needle of the coolant gauge was the victim of this attempt.I installed an extra gauge and everything is perfect.

I would suggest a rotary compression test. This will give you a paper trail and the only proof you're starting with a good sound basis. You will be wasting time and money if you don't do this. Second thought is a mismatched or leaking down fuel injector.I know you'll be pleased when it's running as it should.

i recently purchased an '88 convertible. I am making it '91 turboII.

I got a lot of parts from;
rotarytrader.com (813)785-0003 -- j-spec engine comp.harness, seats, exhaust, guages, down pipe, injectors, ect.

maztrix.com -- most of the gaskests
rotaryworks -- starter.
