Mistral Engines of Geneva, Switzerland has begun flight testing of their G-230-TS-B1A engine, a turbocharged 230hp 2 rotor engine. They plan on FAA certification in 2006. The engines can be purchased and used on experimental aircraft now. When certification is complete the engine can be used on new FAA certified aircraft and retrofitted to aircraft originally equipped with piston engines. There are no rotary engines currently certified for use on general aviation aircraft. See http://www.mistral-engines.com/ for more information. |
