SpeedSource Releases Mazda RX-8 Photos
Submitted by SuperUser on Wednesday, December 31, 2003 - 9:18am

Sunrise, FL -- With the official public debut of the first Mazda RX-8 professional race machines just several days away, SpeedSource Race Engineering has now released pictures of the Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development supported #70 Mazda RX-8.

Along with pictures the team also released its list of associate sponsors. In addition to support from Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development, SpeedSource will be working with Sparco USA, Hawk Brakes, Dynamic Suspension, and Racing Hart Wheels.

"We worked directly with Mazda to come up with the new look for our Mazda program," commented Sylvain Tremblay, SpeedSource Team Owner and lead driver. "The car has come together very nicely. We started on this project almost a year ago and we have well over 500 Dyno runs on the drivetrains and engine management systems. After half a dozen private test sessions, we feel prepared to campaign for the 2004 Sport Touring title.

"We have worked with Mazda and Dynamic Suspension in the past, but this will be our first partnership with Hawk, Sparco, and Racing Hart. We have already tested all their products and they are all up to SpeedSource standards."

The SpeedSource Mazda RX-8 will make its public debut at Daytona Test Days January second through the fifth. Tremblay will be joined in the team's #70 RX-8 by David Haskell. The team will also field three additional Mazda RX-8 entries: #68 (Scott Schlesinger and David Tuaty); #67 (Nick Fanelli, Gary Wollersheim, and Rich Walker); and #66 (Marcelo Abello and Benoit Theetge).

Support for the 2004 SpeedSource Grand Am Cup program comes from Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development, Sparco USA, Hawk Brakes, Dynamic Suspension, and Racing Hart Wheels.

The 2004 Grand Am Cup season kicks off on January 30th with a 250 mile race at Daytona International Speedway. The race is a preliminary race to the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, one of the largest motorsports events in the world.

Stay tuned to SpeedSourceInc.com for more information about the team.

Ad a side note, Mazda released the Mazdaspeed US Spec kit for sale in Mazdaspeed dealers so they could use the nose 'n skirts on their race car.
