While I love my rotaries, the destruction of the car was far better than the creating, MUST SEE!! The car was doomed from the get go as the two greenies who installed the NOS had no experience with rotaries OR NOS!! Way Cool.

SACRILEGIOUS!!!!!!!!!!

I owned a 1988 RX-7 for a few years until the road salt of Cleveland, Ohio took it from me. During that time I went from someone who knew nothing about cars to a full fleged "Rotorhead".
When I am not thinking about rotaries I like to relax in front of the "Tech TV". One day they did a news story about "Monster Garage". Since I like cars, I was a bit excited to see what the story would be about. In the middle of the news story they started to talk about the most recent project that they were working on.....the RX-7. It must have been the look of horror and rage on my face that caused my wife to dart across the room to turn the television off. It was very hard for me to watch them butcher a car that I hold so sacred and dear to my heart. Needless to say, I did not watch the show nor will I ever.
I find it hard to believe that such a fine source of rotary information as "Rotary News" would promote that kind of SACRILEGIOUS conduct. This is about as bad as that damned 3rd Gen. RX-7, that some idiot stuffed a Supra engine into, that keeps popping up car magazines and at car shows

i apologize to all of the hard core 7 fans out there, but that was awesome. it's amazing how much damage can be inflicted on a vehicle with a vulcan mini gun. 6000 rounds per minute is just amazing to watch.

I actually made time to watch this show, what a waste of 3600 seconds. Though it was funny watching the builders get pulled by the 5O, destroying a perfectly good 7 to bolt a huge 5th wheel in the trunk area was just ridiculous. The ending made me nauseous.

what a lost cause.......hacking, welding, and making "adjustments" along the way.....no plan to begin with and no means to an end, other than hoping it'll work. jessie had to get off by vaporingzing it at the end w/that modern day rattling gun........my favorite part was when one of the NOS installer said "No NOS has ever been installed in a rotory before". Guess he doesn't know about the RX-7s landing 10 sec. timeslips in the 1/4........in street tires.

That is the last time I watch that show. Not because I like the FC's(because I do, a LOT, I have a 10th Anniversary Edition) but because that is an total waste of a car and completely stupid. There is no reason for that. I know they lost more than one regular viewer tonight.

What a waste !!!And I'm refering to the space between jesses ears!! They had the right idea gutting the 7, but they did not take into account the extra weight of the brackets, chains, and wheel.Another point is I remember hearing the the convertible is heavier than the standard H/B to make the frame more solid. All they had to do was gut it, add real digging tires on rear axle, replace all shocks w/ air shocks, pop off the doors, hood, etc at race time to decrease weight further and the nos. Also, somebody wanna tell deadhead Jesse that already is a business named ' RX-heaven'.

Well, time for me to chime in. I'll probably post a full review on the main page, much like this, later today or tomorrow.

It was horrible to see such a peach of a vert to be destroyed. I cringed when they were ripped off those door panels, i sank low in my seat when they threw the seats out like garbage, I shook my head when they disguarded the perfect condition drop top like it was used Kleenex. And that was just in 5 minutes!

Once the stripping was done with, the show setteled into a normal building reality type-show, with the guys engineering by the seat of of their pants instead of planning and crafting. The arguments between the builders were mildy entertaining at best, while everyone seemed to have no sence of urgancy or will to have the project done, and done well. The show went into nearly no detail about the unique engine that powered the RX-7, nor the N20 system that gave it a performance boost.

Then the ending. What a horrible ending, not because of the fact that the RX-7 lost to two purpose built sand rails, but the fact that Jesse acted like a child when he destroyed his creation. They didn't show much of the race, as it was editied like an acid trip. It was unclear what the objective was, or if there would be multiple rounds or different challenges. The editors didn't say how badly the RX-7 did, how much it lost by, or if it had failed mechanically.

All in all, it was a waste of a perfectly good vert RX-7, a waste of resources, a waste of $3000+, and a waste of an hour of my time. Jesse's creation was a failure, as well as the show. Rating: 1/2 Star out of 10.
