Here is a better pic of the Mazdaspeed RX-8. The front intake holes are GIANT, and the side mirrors dont fit on. other than that, it looks good, especially the spoiler.

Man, that thing is awesome!!! As soon as I saw the picture my jaw dropped. I love the kit MazdaSpeed put on it. It just adds to a already good looking car IMO. Nothing too flashy, but adds a real aggressive look to it. I'm sure the performance will equally be as great as the look. The only thing that bums me out about it is that, me being a 20 yr. old, I can't afford one, but I can dream can't I? I really like the way Mazda is headed and I hope they keep doing what they're doing, and that's making some great cars.

Those look like BMW E36 M3 side mirrors........single stem mirrors would look better.

I asked mazda the following question.
"I have questions regarding future packages and options offered for the RX8 such as the X-men body kit and Mazdaspeed enhancements. When will the public be notified of these options?"

Here are their responses;

"The X-Men RX-8 mutator is a computerized program that allows you to see a computer generated modification to an artist's concept of the RX-8. Some of the (imaginary) additions include a missile launcher, front jet, etc... This is for the imagination and not for the factory platform!
The "mutations" are not a body kit, but rather refers to a program that is similar to a video game that allows you to put different "skins" on an RX-8 model. Try it when it is added to our site, it's fun to play and hints at the spirit that you obviously know the RX-8 stands for!"

"Mazda North American Operations has no plans to make available a MAZDASPEED RX-8. This production year, you will find the current configurations listed on the website. The showing of a concept car as the article that you are referring to explains, does not indicate that
this vehicle will be introduced to the American market during the preorder, within the production year or necessarily ever. I, too would love to see that cool RX-8 out on the roads and nothing would make us happier than to have many enthusiasts, like you, willing to wait for them. But in terms of your previous questions, I must regretfully
advise you once more. There are no immediate plans for the production of (obviously outside of promotional/concept/stage versions) of either
the MAZDASPEED RX-8 nor the X-Men RX-8 and no future possibilities have been announced or are entertained beyond the concept car that you are
aware of. "

I think it looks great!

- Side mirrors: They look more sporty
- Giant front intakes: LOVE THEM!

Overall, the aesthetic enhancement from the standard RX-8 is as nice as the enhancement from the standard Protege to the Protege5 and MP3.

Standard Protege: ZZZzzzz....
Mazdaspeed Protege: ZOOM ZOOM!

Standard RX-8: Cool.
Mazdaspeed RX-8: *&#^!##$ awesome!!!

Hopefully, this version will have more power to back up the aggressive look.

OUTSTANDING Mazdaspeed! The few doubts I had about the look of the RX-8 was erased in this version :-)

Dare I say that the picture of the Mazdaspeed Rx-8 reminds me of a riced out Honda del sol. Del Sol if the first thing that popped into my head when I saw that pic. I like the front spoiler but don't really like the side view with the skirts. I must say though, the xmen car they had at the la auto show looked pretty sweet. Not as good as a third gen but still alot better in person. I do love what Mazda is doing with the company though. It seems that thier entire line up of cars is going to be performance minded. Also we are now starting to see alot of articles about the rx-8 and rotary in the auto magazines. I don't think you can open a current Magazine without finding something about the rx-8. They need to get the reliability, gas milage, and performance stats known of the renesis motor and it will catch on like wildfire! I'm one of the guys waiting and hoping for a fourth gen rx7 though. Looking at all of the high tech stuff on the rx-8, I can't even begin to imagine how awesome the next rx-7 will be. Gotta love the rotor symbols everywhere. Hopefully Mazda will start selling rotor shaped accessories at the USA dealers like they do in Australia.

I'm all over it. Throw in a big turbo and I would buy that in a heartbeat. Just make sure it is available in black with black or dark metal fade rims and it woulld be just about perfect.

Beautiful.... All I can say is "TURBOCHARGE!!"...

I've been waiting for a long time to see an RX8, and I finally got to sit in one at the Detroit Auto Show.. Some things really impressed me (The backseat space), the nice feeling leather, the CAR ITSELF! However, since I am really picky, I disliked, or was concerned about a few issues.. When closing the suicide door, then closing the regular door on it, it wobbles a little bit, making me wonder about the quality. I know the supposedly the car has good safety ratings, and body stiffness, a more powerful car would brobably need it stiffened. I would be shocked if people didn't start tuning them ;). The dashboard mold mad little ugly artifacs around places like the keyhole, and whatnot.. Maybe some plastic trimming around the edges would imrpove this. Also, the integrated head unit/CD player.. The only time I feel it should be integrated like that is if it has the high sound quality, and all around features to back it up. That's one of the biggest thing people like to do on cars, so I don't know about that whole idea. It looks neat, though.

But for $25K, I don't think I can complain.

I CANT WAIT TO TEST DRIVE ONE!

Ive been excited about the RX8 since its conception and i must say that im really happy with how the RX8 looks out of the showroom. Having a highly tuned 89 RX7 Turbo i can say that the RX8 lacked the visual "punch" that makes it look like a mean machine. The Mazdaspeed variant has totally solved this. The car is flat out amazing looking, and i feel that it is also more agressive looking that most FD RX7's. Now i KNOW what RX8 i want, and the Mazdaspeed one is IT. FANTASTIC JOB MAZDA, your designs jump out and make me smile in a world of blandly styled japanese cars.

Just enough boost to match the torque with the HP please. Even better, a nice TMIC supercharged setup ... so as not to spoil the NAs awesome throttle repsonce.
