I've recently bought an RX-8 on an 04 plate.
3rd time i drove it, we were wizzing along the road at 70 and
suddenly experienced a total loss of power, just like the ignition had been turned off.
The RAC came out to recover us and diagnosed it as fuel injectors not opening although fuel was available at the injector.
Also detected 2 recorded misfires which were deleted.
He suspected a faulty phase sensor or injectors turned off due to misfires. He also said compression was good.
The vehicle was then recovered to a Mazda main dealer who have said the problem is due to zero compression on one rotor but were unable to diagnose why. They recommended a new engine.
I'm afraid i just dont trust the main dealer, their attitude was appauling and the symptoms do not fit. I'm wondering if they flooded it trying to start it which in turn washed the oil of the combustion chambers thus giving low compression.
Can anyone shed any light and advise a suitable plan of attack?
I'm in UK. |
