Just a little before 25 minutes into the Le Mans race, the AutoExe team with the 4 Rotor retired because of a broken gearbox. Shortly out of the Mulsanne corner, Yojiro Terada (Autoexe's #24) was unable to get back out on the track. At least it was the gear box, and not the 4 rotor engine that failed.

More information on the race will be available on RotaryNews soon, as well as Glenn Butcher's Website

Just a little before 25 minutes into the Le Mans race, The AutoExe team retired from the race with a broken gearbox. Shortly out of the Mulsanne corner, Yojiro Terada (Autoexe's #24) was unable to get back out on the track. The Japanese driver's team was forced to retire after only 25 minutes into the race. At least it was the gear box, and not the engine that failed.

AutoExe Motorsports completed a successful shakedown of their "AutoExe LMP-02", with the Mazda four-rotor rotary engine installed, at the Carolina Motorsports Park of American South Carolina on 6th March.

The car's first race will be at Sebring, but the team have submitted an entry for Le Mans and assuming the car acquits itself well in Florida, this entry will be high on the ACO's list given the WR chassis, Yojiro Terada and Jim Downing's history at Le Mans. Plus the majority of the AutoExe Motorsports staff is former Mazdaspeed staff.

There were no major problems during the test, only the oil temperature was a little high.

"It became a very good test. I want to reverberate the rotary sound once again in Le Mans", commented team boss Yojiro Terada.

Oh to hear that glorious sound at Le Mans once more at 3am in the morning; enough to sober anyone up!! Ear plugs at the ready......!
